Wealden Line Surveyor starts work

Wealden Line Surveyor

Network Rail has now taken possession of the original Uckfield Station land from BRB (Residuary) Ltd in order to safeguard the original rail route from Uckfield to Brighton and the Coastway East Line.

Today, 14th January 2014, a surveyor has been at work, preparatory to Network Rail drawing up plans to construct a 139-bay Railway Car Park in the coming months, laid out in such a way that a 12-car two-platform station can also be built on the site when the BML2 Project promoted exclusively by the Wealden Line Campaign is augmented at a later date.

The current station building which stands on the platform that was built on the original down railway line, is of modular construction and can apparently be re-sited to the new station site when the BML2 development ultimately takes place.
